Who Qualifies for Funding

The program is designed for Manatee County homeowners still dealing with hurricane damage.

✅ You May Qualify If:

  • Your home is in Manatee County
  • You own and live in the home (owner-occupied)
  • Your home was damaged by Hurricane Helene or Milton (2024)
  • You still have unrepaired damage (roof, structure, interior)
  • You meet income guidelines (low to moderate income)

💰 What the Funding Covers:

  • Up to $250,000 for home repairs
  • Up to $450,000 for home replacements and/or elevations
  • Roof replacement and structural repairs
  • Interior damage (ceilings, walls, floors)
  • Electrical, plumbing, and other systems
  • 5-year forgivable loan (you may owe nothing)

Hurricane Recovery Program FAQ

Do I have to pay anything out of pocket?

The program is structured as a 5-year forgivable loan. If you remain in the home for the full term, you may owe nothing. The county pays your contractor directly.

What if I already filed an insurance claim?

You may still qualify. The program can cover gaps between what your insurance paid and the actual cost of repairs. Contact the Lasting Manatee intake center to find out.

How do I apply?

Visit the Lasting Manatee intake center in person (open Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm) or apply online at lastingmanatee.org. The deadline is June 30, 2026.

Can I choose my own contractor?

Yes. Approved applicants will be helped through this process by their assigned intake specialist. We do not have a published list of the contractors at this time.

What kind of repairs are covered?

Roof replacement, structural repairs, interior damage (ceilings, walls, floors), electrical, plumbing, and other hurricane-related damage, subject to program guidelines from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Up to $250,000 for repairs or $450,000 for home replacements and/or elevations.

My roof is still tarped. Can you help?

Absolutely. Many Manatee County homes still have tarps from 2024. This program was created exactly for situations like yours. Apply at lastingmanatee.org before June 30.
