Isaias has passed
The National Hurricane Center issued its final advisory on Isaias at 4:00 AM CDT on October 10, 2026, and there are no hurricane or tropical storm watches or warnings in effect. NHC says flash flooding risk continues, so stay out of floodwater and check the National Weather Service for local flood alerts. Re-entry, road closures and debris pickup come from your county emergency management office; statewide recovery information is at FloridaDisaster.org, and if a federal disaster declaration covers your county you can apply for FEMA assistance at DisasterAssistance.gov. Providential’s Isaias recovery page has recovery steps and official links for the Panhandle.
Recovery steps
- Stay safe. Stay off the roof. Keep away from downed power lines and floodwater.
- Generators stay outside, far from doors, windows and vents.
- Photograph everything before cleanup. Dated photos and video of the roof from the ground, the exterior, and any leaks or ceiling stains inside.
- Stop active leaks from inside if it’s safe. Move belongings, catch water, and call for emergency tarping.
- Keep receipts for anything you buy to protect the home.
- Get a free roof inspection, then make repairs under permit.
How Providential is helping
- Emergency tarping anywhere in Florida to help prevent further water damage, once the storm has passed and it’s safe to work on the roof.
- Free storm-damage roof inspections for homes and commercial buildings, with no obligation.
- Photo documentation, a written damage report and an itemized estimate, yours to keep.
- Repair or full replacement under permit, built to the Florida Building Code, with one project manager on the job.
- State-of-emergency ready: Providential works under state-of-emergency contracts and follows Florida’s state-of-emergency rules and laws.
Choosing who works on your roof
Storm chasers show up fast after every big storm. Before anyone climbs your roof:
- Ask for the Florida roofing license number (it starts with CCC) and check it at myfloridalicense.com.
- Get the scope and price in writing, itemized. Don’t sign anything under pressure or anything you don’t understand.
- During a declared state of emergency, Florida law lets you cancel a residential roof repair or replacement contract within 10 days of signing or by the official start date, whichever comes first (s. 489.147, Fla. Stat.).
